A Family Camping Tips & Tutorial

Here you will get all the free information you need to start your camping adventure. You will find the info you need if you have never gone camping before, plus some great Tips & Tricks if you are a seasoned camping veteran.

Rule #1- No cell phones, no TV's, no hair dryers nor curling irons, no radios, no CD players,no Latptops and no MP3 players. This is a time to get away from that stuff, and focus on your family- your spouse and your children.

So you've decided to go camping. Good for you! You will love it. Keep in mind that it is not the Hilton, nor even Motel 6 (and definitely not home). It's not supposed to be. This is your family's time. Keeping the attitude of "this is going to be a great, enjoyable adventure" will go a long way if you are a little hesitant. Get excited! Our family always is. My children are always asking, "Daddy, when are we going camping again?" Yours will be too!

Now what do you do?

The first thing to determine is when you want to go camping. Is it during the summer break? How about springs break? Do you have a four day weekend coming up? Is there a holiday coming up? Do you have some vacation time?

TIP: My recommendation is to try to go at least over 2 nights, as it does require a little more effort than just checking into a hotel. By going a little longer, it makes it more enjoyable.

The reason you want to plan when, is that it will help you know what to bring. Is it going to be hot, cool & crisp, or cold? This helps to know if you need to bring the long johns or the shorts. It also helps you know how much food, and extra clothes to bring. Planning ahead will help when it comes time to pack. (Prior planning prevents pathetically poor performance).
